datapos now using GPC data Print

datapos now ships with GPC data, making creating stockcats and stockcodes a doddle!

But what is GPC and what does it meat to you?

First lets get confused by looking at the offical definition!!

gpc.gif To ensure products are classified correctly and uniformly, GDSN uses GS1 Global Product Classification (GPC), a system that gives buyers and sellers a common language for grouping products in the same way, everywhere in the world.

This improves the Global Data Synchronisation Network's data accuracy and integrity, speeds up the supply chain's ability to react to consumer needs, and contributes to breaking down language barriers. It also facilitates the reporting process across product silos.

The foundation of GPC is called a "Brick;" GPC bricks define categories of similar products. Using the GPC brick as part of GDSN ensures the correct recognition of the product category across the extended supply chain, from seller to buyer. Bricks can be further characterised by Brick Attributes.

ok, thats me confused ?!?!

datapos explanation

GPC = Global Product Classification

Some nice people at a meeting called GDSN decided that all products should be classified by industry and type. When they had finished, they published thier results into a nice useable file.

datapos is now able to import the data from this file. What this means to you is that when you need to create stockcats and stockcodes, simply activate the datapos gpc screen, select your industry and datapos will do it for you!

Not only that, but because GPC data also contains "product attributes", datapos will also create super sales points based on the product type.

What this realy means is ... hours saved making up your own stockcats and stockcodes!
